Pre-1712
*Native Americans discover abundance of herring at Namassakeesett (place of much fish) – herring as a food source, helped keep colonists alive, and were an important food source through the early 20th century
Ca.1640-Robert Barker and Dolor Davis came up North River in a canoe
Ca.1650 - Barker Garrison built
*1678 – Shipbuilding on North River began
*1706 – Quaker Meeting House built
1712-1812
1712 – First Church settles a minister/Incorporation of Pembroke as a town
1772 - Pembroke Resolves drafted and sent to Boston
1714 – Pembroke’s 1st school established
1812-1912
1889 - Civil War soldier’s monument dedicated
1901 – Mayflower Grove opened
Ca.1874 - Establishment of Pembroke’s 1st library
1908 – Pembroke’s 1st high school – Hatch School – opened
1837/1838 - Town clock given to town by The Rev. Morrill Allen
1824 – Current town pound built
1912-2012
Veteran’s Monument dedicated
200- - Pembroke’s high school re-established
1977 - Annual Grand Old Fashioned Fish Fry established
1998 - Pembroke’s new Library built
1968 - Pembroke Arts Festival created
