300th ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Place: Town Hall

PLEASE NOTE: FUTURE MEETINGS FOR THE 300TH COMMITTEE WILL BE AT THE PEMBROKE COUNTRY CLUB – 3RD TUESDAY OF THE MONTH AT 7 P.M.

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.

1. The sign-in sheet was passed around. Updates on email addresses will be added to the membership list.

2. There was a motion to accept the minutes as corrected by Rose Egerton. Correction as follows: The Costume Ball Committee was to meet on January 13, 2010 and the Costume Ball is June 16, 2012. Seconded.

3. Logo:

Bill stated that the first thing he wishes to be on the agenda is the logo voting. There was a discussion about the logos submitted. They were all numbered. There were 11 logo entries. It was decided amongst the present that logo #1 would be the chosen logo for the stationary and all the main logo needs for the Committee. There were 9 votes in favor for logo #1. There was a motion made to accept logo #1 and seconded. There was also discussion to change this logo around somewhat and voted on, but Claire Walsh moved to reconsider the above vote on variations and the decision was made to keep the logo as is and use some of the other entries for other items such as jewelry, banners, coins, plates, etc. A vote was taken to make variations on logo #1. 3 yes 11 oppose. A vote was taken to leave logo #1 (main logo) as is. 11 yes 7 oppose. The logo will remain as is.

4. Treasurer’s Report:

No Report – no funds spent.

5. Ball Committee:

Meeting cancelled. It is rescheduled to February 15, 2010.

6. Website:

No new changes. Deb Wall will update with logo information.

7. Research Committee:

No news

8. Parade Committee:

Jeff and Phil will meet next week. No updates as of this meeting.

9. Road Race: No new information as yet. Updates to come.

10. Dan Webster:

Dan is looking into funding for our 300th Anniversary. He will get back to us with updates.

11. Producer:

Kyle will work up small presentation. Everett Reed had pictures and Bill gave these to Kyle. Kyle is planning about 12 to 13 shows.

12. Printing:

Shawn will be working on the logo and Bill asked Shawn if he could possibly do the stationary first. This way we will be able to begin sending letters out for fundraising. It was suggested at this meeting to have the ability for on-line donations also. Deb Wall will look into this.

13. Public Relations:

Kathleen Keegan wishes input for press releases and she is asking for assistance for this. She would like a committee to be formed. She also asked if anyone had anything they wished in the paper to contact her. She can put info on WATD, Cable, and the Herald-Boston South.

14. Historical House Tour:

No committee as yet.

15. Calendar of Events:

This information will go on the web page.

16. Pewter Plates & Mugs:

Karen Proctor will be researching this idea.

17. Coins:

This will be discussed at another meeting.

18. Pembroke Wine:

There is a distributor in Boston that wishes us to come to Boston by bus for a wine tasting. Perhaps we can have a cranberry wine.

Local farmers wish to be involved in the wine for the 300th Anniversary Year-specialty wine for that year.

There is a possibility to have wine for fundraising with the logo Bill thought.

19. School Pins:

Judi McAuliffe is working on this in the schools. Bill stated as yet there are no entries from the students.

20. Fireworks Display:

Bill knows that Bob Dorsey is working on this.

21. Sign:

Bill has asked Rose Egerton to get in touch with her employer and have him call Bill regarding the cost of a sign for the Town from the 300th Committee.

22. Auction:

There is no committee for this as yet.

23. Antique Show:

Bill states that Tiny Brown is very interested in being involved with this. More updates at a later date.

24. Town Events:

Bill will update us regarding intertwining our events with the Towns events in 2012. More info to come.

25. Religious Events:

Bill stated that St. Thecla’s wish to be involved for the Anniversary year.

Janet stated that Bryantville United Methodist Church wishes to be involved for the Anniversary year.

26. Olde Home Day Fair:

Claire Walsh is Chair for this event and she is planning events to go along with the 300th Anniversary year.

27. Quilters:

Deborah Wall is working on this and getting a committee together.

28. Carnival:

Bob Dorsey will be working on this, Bill stated.

 

 

29. Brick Walkway:

John Proctor is working on this and has gathered some information already regarding areas in Town that may be suitable.

30. Tree Planting:

Deb Wall brought up this idea and thought it may be a good way to celebrate the Town’s 300th with the planting of 300 trees. Janet stated that perhaps Scott Glauben could be of some assistance with this. Deb will contact him.

31. Fundraising:

Kathleen Keegan will do some research on this.

32. Closing Events:

Bill wishes to have some type of event for the volunteers/workers. More info later.
