Logo:
This was discussed by the members. Frank Hackett has been contacted regarding a contest for a logo. The DPW has a Town Logo. Mary Ann Simmons did the 275th coin drawing. She will look in her records to find any further info for the logo that the members wish to use for the 300th.
Bill stated that he would like to see some new ideas for a logo. Bill mentioned that he would like to see involvement from the Historical Society if possible.
Karen Proctor states that she feels that from the standpoint of historical happenings that herring, the Town Clock and the Town Pound would be points of interest for the logo.
Mary Ann Simmons mentioned that the schools were involved with the logo for the 275th Birthday Logo.
Karen Proctor stated that the Pembroke Resolve is a unique document and perhaps that could be used in some manner also.
Bill suggested that Karen Proctor’s list of ideas for the logo could be put on the Town Website. Suggestions could be placed on the Website by Deborah Wall. Karen will do this.
Claire Walsh suggested that information regarding input for the 300th Birthday Logo could be placed in the local newspapers. Discussion continued regarding how the advertisement should go for entries, and it was decided to leave it to the imagination of the artists that enter the contest. Libby suggested that the submissions should be in a black & white medium. Submissions should be looked at by the 3rd Tuesday in July (July 21). It was also felt that submissions should be turned into Selectmen’s Office by July 15.
It was also mentioned that and artist named Sally Dean has done Pembroke Ornaments in the past and perhaps she could give some input.
It was mentioned that the Logo Committee should meet as soon as possible to discuss the above ideas and come back to the Committee with a report. It was also suggested that a member from the Logo Committee should attend the monthly meetings to give updates.
