Emergency Meeting

Re: Residence condemnation

The emergency meeting opened at 11:05 a.m. Board of Health members Lisa Cullity, Chair, and Scott MacInnes, Clerk, and Fred Leary, Health Agent, were present.

Resident and daughter attended the meeting.

Frederick Leary, Health Agent, was called to the residence by the Pembroke Fire Department after the owner was taken to the hospital on a medical emergency. The agent inspected the premises and determined it to be inhabitable, therefore condemning the property until it was cleaned up and passed inspection for reoccupation. At this time, she is living with her daughter in another town.

Cullity informed the resident that the Board was very concerned for her health and safety and presented photos taken of the home by the health agent during his inspection. Resident was told she and others could go to the property during the daytime to clean it out, but no one could stay there overnight. The resident has a dog and numerous cats that the board ordered her to find other homes for. She will be allowed to keep one cat, but it must be clean and neutered or spayed as well as one dog. The board made the suggestion she call the Council on Aging for further help contacts and to put her name on the Pembroke Housing Authority list for housing in Pembroke.

The health agent presented a list of things needed to be done to make the property habitable.

MacInnes moved to give the opportunity for resident et al to clean the house as well as to seek alternate living arrangements. All in favor.

MacInnes moved to adjourn at 11:40 a.m. All in favor.

Respectfully submitted,

Lisa Cullity
