BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES
February 17, 2009
The meeting opened at 6:30 p.m. Lisa Cullity and Scott MacInnes were present. The Board reviewed correspondence, approved minutes, signed payroll, accounts payable voucher and septic permits.
Boy Scouts Alex Bowler and Ronny Ramos, Troop 43, Bryantville, sat in on the meeting to earn their “Citizenship in the Community” merit badges. Cullity took the time to answer any of their questions and explain the workings of the Board of Health as well as any of the issues discussed during the meeting.
Discussions:
Natural / organic vs chemical fertilization: MacInnes would like to create an ordinance regarding the use of natural / organic fertilizers. He explained to the Board the effects of using chemical fertilizers and algae growth and other negative effects it has on the ponds. Further investigation as to the legality of creating the ordinance is needed.
Perc extension requests: (1) Lots 1 & 4 Canoe Club, and (2) 115 Congress Street. MacInnes moved to accept the requests for one year, all in favor.
Ronald Caliri, 31 Deerfield Lane. Requested an abatement of two months on his trash bill as he was not in his new house for two months at the beginning of the billing period. Cullity explained the trash bills are not prorated. Abatements are issued if the property was vacant a minimum of six months, and then only for one half of the original bill (late fees are still owed).
MacInnes moved to adjourn at 7:30 p.m. All in favor.
Respectfully submitted,
Lisa Cullity
Chair
