Grand Opening of The Pembroke Outdoor
Community Skating Surface Public Skating Indefinitely Postponed!

From The Recreation Department: It was great to see the Pembroke Community Skating Surface get used yesterday (Monday, 1/16). There was a ton of pent up excitement about skating on the rink and that was proven with the throngs of people who were there throughout the day. It was truly a grand sight to see! As we face another several days with the unseasonable winter weather the Recreation Commission must delay the “Grand Opening” yet again. Unfortunately there was some significant damage done that needs to be repaired and we are looking into how best to proceed to fix the rink. Our intent is to fix the rink so it can be filled again and ready for freezing temperatures. In the meantime, the Recreation Commission appreciates your respect and patience while we make the necessary repairs and wait for the ice to thoroughly freeze. We will give at least
twenty-four hours’ notice prior to the Grand Opening.
