MINUTES OF THE SELECTMEN’S MEETING
SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY, APRIL 19, 2011
PRESENT
: Willard J. Boulter, Jr. (Chairman), Daniel W. Trabucco (Vice-Chairman), Lewis W. Stone (Clerk), Arthur P. Boyle, Jr. (Selectman), Edwin J. Thorne (Town Administrator), Diane M. Tobin (Executive Assistant), Police Chief Michael Ohrenberger, Officer Paul H. Joudrey and family, Officer Bill Hinchey, Officer Chris Wyman, and Chester Drown.The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 6:00 pm in the Selectmen’s Office.
PATROLMAN APPOINTMENT: Police Chief Michael Ohrenberger introduced Paul H. Joudrey and requested that the Board of Selectmen appoint Officer Joudrey to the vacant patrolman position on the Pembroke Police Department to be effective on Sunday, April 24th. In attendance with Officer Joudrey were his family members: his wife, Jen, children Ryan, Haylee and Sean, father Paul Joudrey, Sr., Dan Alex (police officer from Plympton) and his son, Trevor Alex.
Chief Ohrenberger told the Selectmen that Officer Joudrey currently works as a full time officer in Plympton and is a permanent intermittent in Pembroke. He previously worked in Provincetown, Dedham, Weymouth and with the Board of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He holds degrees in criminal justice and political science form UMass Boston and he is working on his Master’s Degree at Curry College. Officer Joudrey has taser certification and is motorcycle certified. Chief Ohrenberger says he has an impeccable background. Officer Joudrey lives in Plympton near the Carver town line.
Selectman Boyle moved, seconded by Selectmen Stone, that the Pembroke Board of Selectmen, acting as the police commissioners, appoint Paul H. Joudrey, effective Sunday, April 24, 2011 to fill the vacant patrolman position on the Pembroke Police Dept. Voted 4/0 unanimously in favor.
ACTION REGARDING TOWN MEETING ARTICLES: Selectman Trabucco suggested that no action need be taken at this time.
UPDATE ON STREET LIGHT ISSUE: Selectman Hanley had requested that this item be placed on the agenda tonight but he is not present. No action taken.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: Selectman Stone moved, seconded by Selectman Trabucco, to go into executive session to discuss contract negotiation strategy and litigation strategy, and upon conclusion no further public business to be discussed.
Roll call vote: Trabucco, yes – Stone, yes – Boyle, yes – Boulter, yes
The Selectmen entered executive session at 6:12 pm.
