MINUTES OF THE SELECTMEN’S MEETING
MONDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2010
VETERAN’S MEMORIAL HALL
PRESENT: Willard J. Boulter, Jr. (Chairman), Daniel W. Trabucco (Vice-Chairman), Lewis W. Stone (Clerk), Arthur P. Boyle, Jr. (Selectman), Gregory M. Hanley (Selectman), Diane M. Tobin (Executive Assistant), John Mattinson (Pembroke Media Broadcast), and others. Mr. Thorne was not present this evening as he is still rehabilitating from surgery. Mr. Trabucco was detained in traffic due to the snow.
The meeting was called to order by the chairman at 7:05 pm.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Boy Scouts Troop 105 will be picking up discarded Christmas Trees on Saturday, Jan. 8 for a donation of $5.00. Call 781-293-3236 or 781-829-0011 to schedule a pick up. Or email to dryneedle105@aol.com
On Saturday, Jan. 15, Mike DelPrete and Sons will pick up discarded trees at the curb.
POLE HEARING: Mr. Hanley moved, seconded by Mr. Boyle, to open a public hearing regarding the request of Mass Electric and Verizon to relocate Pole #16 on Chapel Street to a location 11 feet north of the existing location. So voted.
Dale Hermanson from Mass Electric was present to address any questions from the board. Mr. Hanley moved, seconded by Mr. Boyle to close the hearing and further to approve the application to relocate Pole #16 on Chapel Street to make the way clear for the primary conductor from a tree. So voted unanimously in favor.
300th ANNIVERSARY: Linda McCollum advised Chairman Boulter of a donation of $500. to be made to the 300th Anniversary Committee. These funds are proceeds from the sale of the historic watercolor prints. The Cultural Council hopes to make more prints available this year. Prints can be purchased for $40. each at the Town Clerk’s office.
Mr. Boulter expressed appreciation for this donation and noted that there are several other items to benefit the 300th Anniversary Celebration available at the library. He also announced that special label red and white wines are available for sale at Pembroke Center Liquors, Lindy’s, and Bryantville Liquors to commemorate the anniversary. The Cranberry Wine is brewing at the Boston Winery for release in 2012. This wine is made from home grown cranberries that were transported to Boston by Mr. Boulter for processing.
PEMBROKE PUBLIC LIBRARY: Linda McCollum reminded residents that there are also Historical Society items such as the Pembroke Resolves, Pembroke 2000 Book by Ed Quill, Harry Woods Story, Ancient Landmarks in Pembroke, and many other materials.
MINUTES: The board voted to approve the minutes of Dec. 13, 2010 as presented.

ALTERNATE HEALTH AGENTS: The Town Administrator suggested in an email message that this item be postponed until he has chance to talk to the Health Agent about this. Mr. Boyle moved, seconded by Mr. Stone, to table this item until a future meeting of the Selectmen. So voted unanimously in favor.
ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER REPORT: Mr. Hart informed this office that he is working on his report and will submit shortly. He has been busy with dog complaints these past two weeks.
PEMBROKE CENTER LIGHTS: Chairman Boulter said that he spoke with the Planning Board and they would like a joint meeting with the project engineers for the Center Plaza street lights. Mr. Boulter talked to other engineers about the plan and says that some things will be brought to the Planning Board’s attention.
Selectman Stone said that he received calls complimenting the Selectmen for helping to make improvements in the street light situation and Mr. Stone complimented Chairman Boulter for his extra effort on behalf of the residents regarding this matter.
SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL: Selectman Stone reported that he attended a meeting in Braintree with the Tri-town Alliance Group and they would like to come in to talk with the Selectmen. It was suggested that Tuesday evening, January 18th might be a good night to schedule a meeting and advise of counsel should be sought to determine if this meeting could be in executive session since it concerns contractual negotiations.
Mr. Boyle moved to adjourn this meeting due to inclement weather and safety concerns and to take up the joint appointment of an Advisory Committee member at the next Selectmen’s meeting. Seconded by Mr. Hanley and so voted.
The Chairman wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, especially to the troops who are not able to be home this Christmas.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm.
